Four Lakes Forest Preserve

Known as a great spot for fishing and dog training, this forest preserve includes picnic tables, a shelter house, and easy walking trails along the water. (4 minute drive)
 

Ferguson Forest Preserve

Located at the confluence of the Sugar River and Pecatonica Rivers, Ferguson is one of the best migratory bird locations in the county. Check out the perimeter hiking trail which offers interpretive signage about the ecology, history and wildlife of this river confluence. (12 minute drive)
 

Sugar River Forest Preserve

This quiet preserve offers a variety of habitats to hike and canoe. Explore woodlands, sand prairie, wetlands and river. Sugar River is the site of FPWC’s primitive camping area for tent camping right along the river, and offers a full-service campground, as well. (15 minute drive)

Anna Page Park

Anna Page is known for it’s disc golf courses, but is also home to a playground, shelter house, and both paved and dirt trails along Kent Creek. (3 minute drive)

Roland Olson Forest Preserve

A favorite spot for hiking, picnicking, and horseback riding, Roland Olson has a paved recreation path, as well as trails through a variety of landscapes. (14 minute drive)
 

Clayton Andrews Forest Preserve

Baumann Park

Baumann Park has a peaceful paved path (1 mile) around the lake, and is a great place to admire the Kishwaukee River. Additional features include a playground, shelter house, and tennis courts. (5 minute drive)
 

County Line Forest Preserve

This preserve is a natural area great for bird-watching. Access to the preserve is located on Ipsen Road. To get to the preserve follow, the trail from the parking area under overhead electric transmission lines, across private property and under the I-90 bridge. (5 minute drive)
 

Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve

One of the largest forest preserves in Winnebago County, Blackhawk Springs includes a paved bike path, grass trails through prairie and woods, a playground, shelter house, and plenty of open space. (12 minute drive)
