Hikers, hello!

I’m Connie Kuntz. I am the newest 815 Outside AmeriCorps member and I am so excited to be here. Like you, I love exploring the outdoors in the region’s forest preserves, green spaces and parks. I can’t wait to meet you in person and go hiking with you!

I’m here because one of the many things I have learned from the pandemic is that I am extroverted. I need to meet new people, talk with them and get to know what interests them. Getting to know our community and the land is as important to me as drinking water and breathing fresh air.

I have always loved nature and am a former environment reporter for WNIJ but my background is in the arts. I have a bachelor’s degree in theatre from Cornell College and have pursued playwriting, directing and producing in Minneapolis, Rockford and Chicago for several years. I am the producer of the Rockford Fringe which stages outdoor performance-based festivals twice a year. I am also the music and comedy director for Tuesdays@9 Chicago as well as one of their regular playwrights.

On a more personal note, I am married to Jesse Kuntz and we have four wonderful kids and several pets.

Now it’s your turn to tell me about you, which I hope you do at one of our next hikes! Stay tuned for information about when and where those outdoor gatherings will be.

Fondly,
Connie
