Many moons ago, the Soothsayer said to Julius Caesar, “Beware the Ides of March.” Caesar didn’t heed the warning and things didn’t end well for him, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a lovely “Ides of March” sunset hike together at Severson Dells! Let’s do it!

When you enter the forest preserve off Montague Road, stay to the right so you can park in the lot for free. Then meet us at the Nature Center and we’ll hike for three-to-four miles around the preserve. We’ll hike past the prairie, over the creek, through the woods, past the dells, up a hill and more! By the end of this moderately challenging hike, you might be asking us, “Et tu, 815 Outside?”

Make sure you’re hydrated and properly bundled up and you’ll be fine. This is a free and fun hike, but please register. Sorry, but dogs are not allowed at Severson Dells.

There are public restrooms and outhouses at Severson Dells.

Extra points and bragging rights will go to any hiker who shares their favorite William Shakespeare quote from the play Julius Caesar.
