Short Hike at Macktown Forest Preserve
October 2 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Join us for a calming evening hike at Macktown Forest Preserve, one of the early colonial settlements in the region. This forest preserve contains historical buildings from the Macktown Settlement, as well as informational signage and various recreations based on the original colonial settlement from the 1830s. We will walk 1-2 miles over paved or grassy paths during the hike. The terrain at Macktown has one steep hill that goes down to the River, but you are welcome to avoid this section if it is not appealing to you. The rest of the hike is fairly flat. No special equipment will be needed for this hike other than walking shoes and possibly bug spray. To get to the hike, please navigate to the parking lot at: 2221 Freeport Road, Rockton, IL 61072. Lydia, the hike leader, will be wearing an 815 Outside t-shirt and standing at the end of the parking lot.
