WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) — Winnebago County officials are working together to help encourage people to get outdoors and connect with nature in the Stateline.
815 Outside is an alliance of non-profit and public service organizations working together to promote opportunities to connect with green space and experience nature.
Those involved in the project say spending time away from our electronics and enjoying time outdoors can help both our physical and mental health.
“When we look at competing in the 21st century for residents for talent for businesses, we got to tell our story better,” said Winnebago County Board chairman Frank Haney. “There’s a great story here around our natural assets. When you look at the 102 counties in the state of Illinois, nobody has what we have, and we want to continue to tell that story loud and proud.”
Some of the 815 Outside partners include the Rockford Area Convention and Visitor Bureau, Severson dells Nature Center and the Rockford Park District.
